A Special Committee has been established to review the relationship between University of Guyana (UG)’s two campuses, in light of Professor Daizal Samad citing the lack of autonomy as one of his reasons for resigning as Director of the Berbice Campus.This is according to Dr. Rupert Roopnaraine, A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) Member of Parliament, during a press conference yesterday at the Office of the Leader of the Opposition, Hadfield Street.Dr. Roopnaraine,Adidas Superstar Shoes On Sale, who is also a member of the University’s Council, said the Council has accepted Samad’s resignation and from the findings of the Committee, appropriate action would be taken.In a letter dated July 4, Samad informed Pro-Chancellor Dr. Prem Misir and the UG Council that his resignation would be effected on October 4, 2013. He stated that relations between him and the new Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Jacob Opadeyi have become strained and distant over the past weeks.
