At a meeting, yesterday, at the Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Association (GGDMA) headquarters, North Road,Wholesale Jerseys Outlet, Bourda, Georgetown, the association announced that it is currently requesting a meeting with the President of Guyana,China NFL Jerseys, David Granger.The meeting will facilitate discussion of matters hindering the development of local miners in the State.According to Vice-President of the GGDMA, Andron Alphonso, a request was made to meet the President some time ago. He said that the association and stakeholders are aware of these safety issues and are cognizant of the increased number of fatalities and injuries in interior.The GGDMA representative said that the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) conducted a Mines Safety Symposium which will be extended to the miners. There has also been training for persons to operate machinery in the mining industry.The organisation reiterated that it will continue to address the issues and support the miners; but is seeking some consideration, since the gold and diamond mining industry is said to be the backbone of Guyana’s economy.
